Create the future you want – there’s no reason to wait

Successful people know exactly what they want and take necessary steps to achieve it. When they achieve it they create other goals, action these and so create a successful life.

You may be thinking “well I am not them and my life is in a mess, so there is no way I can even think of getting out of this “stuck” situation to make things better.” Sound familiar?

Successful people develop a unique strategy that you too can follow in order to achieve similar results; we all have it in us to be winners.

In observing successful people we notice that they are motivated, and have passion for the things they set out to do; they are committed to seeing it through, from conception to completion. Their integrity lies in knowing that what they do as part of this strategy is what’s best for them as well as the people around them – they practice the saying “treat others as you want to be treated”.

They seek solutions, so when things don’t work out as planned, they pursue other routes to their goal. The successful people already understand that when things don’t go as they imagined, there is more value in using that as a lesson learnt for the future, instead of beating themselves up over it.

In future posts we will look at some of the blockages and obstacles which prevent you from achieving your dreams. Successful people acknowledge these, work through these obstacles and clear their way to reaching exceptional heights in their personal and professional lives. They are driven by the factors that motivate them.

Best Practice steps to achieving a successful goal:

Here is a helpful exercise for you to carry out;

If an article about you appeared on this very blog two years from now, what would the article capture about you or your business?

  • Describe the leadership you would be working with?
  • What products would you have created?
  • What would be the culture and values that would underpin your business?
  • What would people around you be saying about you and your business?
  • What would be the feedback from customers?

Start taking a step back from the day to day operational management of your business and take on the leadership role of planning for the future that you have always envisioned.

Actioning your plan

Having a plan for the future is only one step toward success. The next most important step forward is to execute that plan.

A clear active plan of what you need to do from where you are now, to where you plan to be in two years might include the following points:

  • What specific actions would you take for the next year?
  • What specific action would you take from year one to year two?
  • Who are some of the people who would support you in achieving this plan?
  • What resources and strength do you already have that will help you in starting to achieving this plan?
  • What is the first step you would take tomorrow morning? Make a commitment, Write down

“I, ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. will,

on (date) ……………………………………………..

(state the action you will take), …………………………………………………………………………………………

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

By committing to do it, you have a better chance of achieving it – right?
